Rainbow Snippets

Still continuing with These Haunted Hills. And happy Earth Day!

The snippet begins with Brendan laying out his plans for his ghost hunting trip.

“I had more thoughts on what I’d mot like to see beside Crooked Pines. You can decide how best to tackle them and if it’s worth trying.”

“Sure. Actually, if you want, we can drive into Athens. I can show you the Ridges which is a must-see and we can grab lunch or a coffee and sit down with your list.”

“That sounds good. Have to admit, I’m a night owl. When you said to meet here so early I was aghast,” Brendan chuckled.

Joshua snorted. “Not my idea either. Blame the scout masters.

Here is a shot of an upcoming scene where they’re at the Ridges cemetery (yes these are tombstones for the patients of the Ridges (actual name Athens Lunatic Asylum)). They are unmarked except for a number which in theory matches up with a name in the files.

  1. I’m an early bird, so I’d be raring to go if I was there. Another lovely picture to go with the story. Such a shame, though, that there aren’t proper grave stones.

    1. I’m all about being a night owl.

It is terribly sad. A few have names but at the end of the day, their families wanted so little to do with them their bodies were never claimed.

  2. I’m an odd combo of night owl (I’m routinely up until 2 or 3 o’clock in the morning) and early bird. (Early bird by nature but I work the 3 – 11 shift, so…)

Seems like neither of the MCs are fans of early morning, though, so yay for late night… “talks.”

  3. For me, and early morning is any time before noon 😀 I’m a work until 5 then sleep until 1 person. Loved this scene and the picture is interesting. I’m fascinated by old asylums and abandoned hospitals.

    1. Hhahaha. I’m content with going to bed at 2 and getting up at 9 which is my fall schedule.

Thanks. You would like the Athens Lunatic Asylum. The reality is Dr. Kirkbride’s buildings were planned to be safe and beautiful with a lot of l ight and open spaces and his care ideas, while 19th century had some things that would have been helpful to the mentally ill….until greed of the people who actually ran the places took over and they started overstuffing the place by nearly four times capacity.

  4. Aw, that’s barely a step up from an unmarked grave. 😦
I used to be more of an early bird. Guess I’m still closer to that than night owl, but, like Brendan, I’d still be aghast at too early an hour. 🙂
