Rainbow Snippets

It was yet another hellish week but mid-terms are over and the three brand new 8 week online classes are over and I can breathe again (teaching 8 classes in a semester is a bit much, I’ve literally done my entire year’s worth of teaching in 8 weeks and they’re annoyed they’ll have to pay me overtime). I’m heading out to the woods for a walk to relax.

Finishing out the scene in Josh’s house in These Haunted Hills (which I’m slating to finish during nano, going rogue and trying to finish two outstanding novels rather than start a third unfinished one). As a reminder since it’s been a while since it was mentioned, Brendan was married once and his young son died of cancer a few years back. (which is relevant to this snippet)

Brendan found the new toothbrush easily enough but that was the only easy part. He stripped down and slid under the covers. Thoughts of Josh just a few doors down was doing something to his heart that he hadn’t planned on. He could picture Josh in that bed. He’d probably sleep in boxers and that was one step too far for him. It was the tipping point.

What was he thinking? Guilt crushed him into the mattress. He shouldn’t be thinking of this. Moving on meant letting go and how could he possibly let go? Brendan clamped a hand over his mouth, tears leaking from his eyes, running down his face, pooling in his ears. With the other hand, he cradled his glass pendant. He simply couldn’t do this.

If you’d like to play along, Rainbow Snippets is a Facebook community where we post up 6 sentences of one of our LGBT stories every Saturday. It’s been fun and you can find it here. Be sure to check out all the offers! It’s been a great supportive group!
