Between the start of the semester and novel edits, I haven’t had time to read anyone’s snippets yet. Hope to do so soon.

Picking up with the two of them in the shuttlecraft to Aneirin’s home

Before he could finish the manual, the shuttle started the descent into his home’s bay. Aneirin tapped Kaleo’s arm. His amazing sapphire eyes opened, blinking slowly at Aneirin.

Kaleo sat up and rubbed his eyes, smearing the remains of his makeup. “Did I fall asleep? I’m sorry. Please, don’t be angry with me.”

“I’m not angry. You did what I told you to. Besides, we’re home.”

Kale’s eyes drifted to the port hole but there was nothing to see other than the metallic walls of the docking bay. When the shuttle doors opened, he glanced at Aneirin who nodded. Aneirin disembarked after him, grabbing his overnight bag. Kaleo held a hand out for the bag and Aneirin let him take it. He wasn’t sure if he kept saying no to everything would confuse Kaleo entirely. He had a head full of conditioning which needed to be carefully undone.

Really been on the struggle bus in getting anything done. Major novel edits have slammed right into the last week before classes start run up to the new semester (and I was blessed with some extra time for those edits for which I’m super grateful.

Skipping ahead a wee bit to the point where Kaleo is sleeping in the shuttle and Aneirin is reading the owner information for Toys and he is not a happy camper.

He had arrived at the part about how to use the wand Rioke had given him when a whimpering distracted him. Aneirin hadn’t realized Kaleo had fallen asleep but it wasn’t an easy rest. Aneirin caressed Kaleo’s hair. The young man sighed softly, quieting as whatever nightmare seemed to leave him. Aneirin’s own nightmares were just beginning. The wand seemed to control the Toy’s sexual readiness. It didn’t go into details but promised with a touch of a button, his Toy would be ready and waiting for him. If dialed to the highest setting, he could have all the joy of watching his Toy’s orgasm with almost no stimulation. They suggested using the medium setting for all-night fun. Aneirin wondered what would happen if he stuck the damn wand in the refuse bin and incinerated it before ejecting the remains into space. As much as he’d like to do that, he needed to understand how it worked. He was a biologist but neuroscience and endocrine weren’t his strong suits. He preferred genetics. He’d have to call Mireio and pick her brain.

I got very little done last week because I don’t have high speed internet at home so I can’t stream so while house sitting for my brother I spent all day watching as many shows as I could stuff in. (Also he has a pool)

Picking back up with Aneirin and Kaleo in the shuttle. Kaleo says he wants to die rather than be returned to the Toy House if Aneirin won’t accept him as a gift.

“Then you better hope you like your new rooms because I’m not giving you back. It obviously terrifies you and I mean to know why. You’re mine for now, at least until I find out what the best path is.” Aneirin watched as a few tears snuck past the young man’s defenses only to be scrubbed away hard after Kaleo let go of his death grip on Aneirin’s arm. “It’s still a ways back to my quarter of the colony. Why don’t you shut your eyes and get a quick nap, Kaleo. I promise you, there’s just me here, and I’m not going to hurt you.”

“Thank you,” he whispered then almost inaudibly tacked on ‘doctor’. He leaned against Aneirin’s shoulder

I’m house sitting for my brother and his wife, taking care of all their cats, two boys kitties under one and a 20 year old diabetic boy cat

Picking back up with Kaleo and Aneirin, the former of whom asked Aneirin to space him rather than refuse him as a gift.

Aneirin,” he replied and at Kaleo’s quizzical look. “My name is Aneirin. You may use it, Kaleo. I’ve never been one to be called by my title, and I’m most definitely not going to shove you out the airlock.” He pried Kaleo’s fingers free. “I’m also not going to give you back to them, especially not without investigating this more.”

“Only three ways it ends, you keep me, you send me back or you sell me to someone else,” Kaleo argued, this time locking his hand around Aneirin’s wrist. His grip hurt. “If I have to back, I want to die!”

It’s been a weekend of festivals and heat exhaustion. I am not made for heat. At least I had fun looking at gems and meeting someone from Wales (as I was wearing a Welsh hat). Too bad all the Welsh I know went right out of my head when she asked did I speak it.

Continuing on with Aneirin and Kaleo getting to know each other in Aneirin’s shuttle craft (Yeah it’s a bit longer than 6 sentences)

Aneirin didn’t miss the subtle quiver of Kaleo’s wiry body. Whatever the reconditioning Masozi mentioned was, it had to be horrible. Kaleo wore the stink of someone who had been up all night in a cold sweat. Still, there was hope in his eyes mixed heavily with fear. “You worried about that all night, didn’t you? I can see you didn’t rest. Masozi mentioned reconditioning. I haven’t read the bio and whatever else came with my new ownership of you. I don’t know what it means.”

“I only know the rumors. I heard the screams.” Kaleo’s larynx bobbed as he swallowed hard. “My trainers told me it was from the reconditioning, and if I didn’t want to end up there, I had best listen to them. I did whatever the fucks they wanted me to.” A hint of a blush colored his face. “Sorry, they never beat the cursing out of me. They tried.”

“I’m not offended.”

“Doctor, if you don’t want me, put me out the airlock now. Please.” Kaleo’s voice trembled and broke, his shivering becoming more pronounced. He grabbed hold of Aneirin’s shirt. “Don’t send me back to them.”
