I am worn out and the semester hasn’t even started. It’s like the summer break never even happened!!

This is probably my last snippet of These Haunted Hills as it’s getting close to the end. I do hope to have this edited through and submitted somewhere by the end of autumn. Wish me luck. In this snippet, Brendan and Joshua are going into the abandoned murder hotel with the ghost hunting team.

It’s not exactly the world’s safest endeavor. Newbies should stay top side. I think I want to go back to the truck and get my hat. Before I have nothing but spiders in my hair.”

“And again, you sleep alone.”

Josh wagged his head. “A good boyfriend would help me bathe.”

“No, that would be boyfriend of the year if you go down into that spider infested nightmare.”

“You might be right.”

They went back to the active room and Josh gave Brendan a Mel-Meter to use this time. He wanted to man the camera himself.

I’m back in Ohio getting ready for the new semester. Okay who am I kidding. I’m nowhere near ready.

Here’s a bit of a jump in These Haunted Hills. Brendan and Josh have gotten a call from the archaeologist looking into the graveyard they found on the site of the murder hotel.

“They dug up one of the graves.”

“Really?”

“Shana wants me to call. Do you mind?”

“No, let’s get out of the sun. I want to hear this.”

They found a tree sheltered bench and sat down. Josh called Shana back. “Hey, Shana, it’s Josh. Can I put you on speaker so Brendan can hear?”

“Sure.”

He pushed the button. “What’s happening?”

“They took the bones they found in the first grave to the coroner and there were a few grave goods as well, if you want to call them that.”

“Such as?” Brendan asked, leaning against Josh’s shoulder.

“A few coins and some metal buttons. We’re were waiting for them to be cleaned but they look like they’ve been in the ground a long time. Anyhow, we got word today that all the coins are from around 1900 to 1910 and the button will take longer to trace its origin if we ever can. The coroner believes the bones have been in the ground a hundred years. He declared it an old graveyard or archaeologic site. The police are still interested in our findings since this was most likely a crime scene at the turn of the last century.”

Sorry it’s been a while. I was on vacation and now I’m in the pre-semester insanity trying to get ready. I didn’t want a full month to go by without me participating.

Here’s more of These Haunted Hills. Brendan and Josh are planning a trip to Columbus so Brendan can do some business. Sorry it’s a bit more than the five sentences.

Josh shrugged. “And since you asked, I might actually just do some  shopping at the Book Loft and pig out at Schmidt’s while you’re working.”

“That sounds like much more fun than what I’m doing.” Brendan sighed. He might love writing but he hated everything that went with it.

“I’ll think about you while I’m stuffing myself with cream puffs.”

Brendan narrowed his eyes. “Now I just hate you.”

Josh chuckled. “You do not. At least not until I send you some pics of the cream puffs and made a little of the potato pancakes.”

“Stop! You’re making me jealous.”

“Of course, I might just sit here while you’re gone and adopt every cat I see.”

I knew it was dangerous bringing you here.”

“Careful, you’re starting to know me well.”

Brendan smiled. He couldn’t think of anything he’d like more.
